Don Mattingly

I never actually met Don Mattingly, until almost 30 years after obtaining this autograph. My brother, Dan was able to get this signed for me during Spring Training in the early 90's at Dunedin Stadium, when the New York Yankees came to play the Toronto Blue Jays. Donnie Baseball had an amazing playing career, all with the New York Yankees. He compiled a .307 lifetime batting average, 9 Gold Gloves, 3 Silver Sluggers, 6 All-Star appearances, a Batting Title in 1984 and a 1985 AL MVP award. After his 14 year playing career, he continued by managing and coaching at the big league level and even added a Manager of the Year Award to his resume of success. However, he's still waiting for the halls of Cooperstown to open their doors on acknowledging his great contribution to this game. It's an injustice that his enshrinement is missing.
My son was able to get this 8x10 picture signed on March 12, 2023 after a Spring Training game in Clearwater, FL. Mr. Mattingly was the bench coach for the Toronto Blue Jays.
