I met Johnny Vander Meer at the Thunder Dome (Now Tropicana Field) at the very first Tampa Bay Devil Rays Fan Fest on November 5, 1995 in St. Petersburg, Florida. There was a very loud speaker behind Johnny as he was signing autographs. I had asked him to personalize my 8x10 picture and he obviously had difficulty hearing me with the speaker being so close. He wrote, "To Bryant" instead of "Brian". Even still, kind of neat to add him into my collection. Johnny is the only pitcher in Major League Baseball history to throw back to back No-Hitters. He accomplished that amazing feat in 1938 while a member of the Cincinnati Reds.
